On 21 August 2007, Sarah visited BAE systems INSYTE in Portsmouth which employs over 700 local people in highly skilled high-tech jobs. They work
closely with Springfield school in Drayton to encourage the pupils to take up science and engineering based subjects and have a thriving apprenticeship programme.
On her visit Sarah met and chatted to the workers some of whom have worked there for over 20 years.
Sarah said "It was a nostalgic visit to the Broad Oak site for me because that was where my father worked when the site and the factory was run by GEC and
later Marconi." |
