On Saturday Sarah spent a couple of hours helping out in the Barnado's shop in Cosham as part of Make A Difference Day. This year this event was linked to
CSV/End Child Poverty Dare to Care Campaign which is encouraging individuals and charities to give their time to improve the quality of life for children, young people and families experiencing
poverty or deprivation. Barnado's is a leading member of End Child Poverty and supports the Dare to Care campaign as many of the families they work with are affected by poverty.
Sarah (pictured here with volunteers Jill and Trevor) said "I had a lovely afternoon, meeting the dedicated volunteers who give up their time day in day out
to help raise money for Barnardo's. I helped out on the till with Jill and I was kept very busy with a steady stream of people coming through the doors. I always enjoy meeting people and chatting
to them so this was ideal for me."
"However, I also got a glimpse of what goes on in the back room where Trevor was leading a small team of people sorting through all the bags of unwanted
clothes and bric a brac that people donate."
"Barnardo's is always short of volunteers to help out and I can recommend this to anyone who has some spare time on their hands. It's a great way to meet new
people and do your bit for charity at the same time"
