Following the proposal from the Land Registry to close the Portsmouth office with the loss of up to 200 jobs, Sarah McCarthy-Fry secured a meeting for 3 Portsmouth Land Registry employees with the Justice Minister Michael Wills to make the case for keeping the Portsmouth office open.
Sarah said " I wanted an assurance from the Minister that the decision was not cut and dried and that this was a genuine consultation and he was prepared to listen to our case. I was reassured by his comments that although this was an operational decision by the Land Registry, nevertheless he would ensure the process was carried out correctly and with a proper evidence base and was open to any evidence we could produce that this was not being done.”
